We film every trip we write about. On YouTube you can see the places before you go: the drive, the walk, the view and the moments that do not fit into a photo. Our English channel is Alex the Traveler.

Alex the Traveler is our English travel channel with more than 100 videos and around 7,000 subscribers (October 2026). Every video is shot and edited by us on trips we actually took: road trips, city guides, theme parks, islands and hikes, with real prices and the tips we would give a friend.

Where we travel: Switzerland, Germany (Black Forest, Fehmarn and the Baltic coast), Austria, the USA (Florida, Orlando, New York City) and a few more countries. Our videos from the Bernese Oberland are being edited right now and will appear here as soon as they are online.

How our videos and guides work together

Each video gets its own guide on Swiss Detours. In the video you see what the place feels like, in the guide you find everything you need to plan: tickets and prices in Swiss francs and US dollars, opening hours, parking, how long to stay and what works with a dog.
