Jungfrau Travel Pass 2026: Prices, Jungfraujoch and the Honest Comparison

Is the Jungfrau Travel Pass worth it? Yes, if you spend at least three days around Interlaken, Grindelwald, Wengen or Lauterbrunnen and go up to the Jungfraujoch. Three days with the Jungfraujoch, Grindelwald First and a boat day on Lake Brienz cost CHF 299 with the 3-day pass (CHF 210 plus CHF 89 for the last section to the Jungfraujoch), against CHF 377.40 with the Half Fare Card, CHF 445.80 in single tickets and CHF 477.20 with the Swiss Travel Pass. Without the Jungfraujoch the pass rarely pays off, and it covers neither the Schilthorn nor the Brienzer Rothorn. That is why it would have been useless for our own week in July 2026: of the six tickets we bought, it would have covered none. Below you find the 2026 prices, what is and is not included, the Jungfraujoch connecting ticket, a full comparison with the Bernese Oberland Pass and the Swiss Travel Pass, and what changes in winter. All other passes are compared in our Swiss rail pass guide.

What the pass includes

The Jungfrau Travel Pass gives you unlimited rides on 3 to 8 consecutive days on the trains, cable cars and boats of the Jungfrau region, from Interlaken up to Grindelwald First, Männlichen, Kleine Scheidegg, Eigergletscher and Mürren. Its strength is the mountain railways around Grindelwald, which the other passes only discount.

  • Valley trains: Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen and to Grindelwald, and the train between Interlaken and Brienz.
  • Towards the Jungfraujoch: Lauterbrunnen to Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg, Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidegg, Kleine Scheidegg to Eigergletscher, and the Eiger Express cable car from Grindelwald Terminal to Eigergletscher.
  • Mountains: Grindelwald First, Männlichen from Grindelwald Terminal and from Wengen, Harder Kulm from Interlaken, Schynige Platte from Wilderswil.
  • Mürren: cable car Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp and the train Grütschalp to Mürren.
  • Boats: Lake Thun and Lake Brienz; the Lake Brienz boats run from April 3 to December 6, 2026.
  • Buses: the local buses in Grindelwald.
  • Shops: 10 percent off in the Top of Europe shops, with some brand exclusions.

The pass is a QR code on your phone; you show it at the barriers and to conductors. Seat reservations are not included anywhere.

What is not included

The Jungfraujoch itself, the Schilthorn, the Brienzer Rothorn and the adventure activities at First are not part of the pass. Those are the four points most visitors get wrong when they compare it with the Bernese Oberland Pass.

  • Jungfraujoch: from Eigergletscher you need the connecting ticket, CHF 89 in summer 2026. More below.
  • Schilthorn: the cable car from Stechelberg via Mürren to the summit is a separate company and not included. Mürren itself you reach with the pass via Grütschalp.
  • Brienzer Rothorn: not included; the pass only covers the train from Interlaken to Brienz.
  • First adventures: First Flyer, First Glider, Mountain Cart and Trotti Bike cost extra; the pass covers only the gondola.
  • Buses: the PostBus from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg and the town buses in Interlaken are not included, according to the reseller MySwissAlps.

So if your plan is built around the Schilthorn and the car-free village of Mürren, as ours was, look at the Bernese Oberland Pass instead. It makes the whole Schilthorn line free.

Prices 2026 and who pays the reduced price

The 3-day Jungfrau Travel Pass costs CHF 210 (about US$254) in 2026, the 8-day pass CHF 330. Holders of a Swiss Half Fare Card, Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Travel Pass Flex (on activated days), GA or Swiss Half Fare travelcard pay the reduced price from CHF 165, and children from 6 to 15 pay a flat CHF 30.

The price per extra day falls quickly: day 4 costs CHF 25, days 5 to 8 CHF 20 to 35 each. Children under 6 travel free, and children with a Swiss Family Card, Junior Travelcard or Children’s Co-Travel Card travel free as well, according to Swiss Travel System. If you want to stay one more day, Jungfrau Railways sells an extension day directly after your pass for CHF 45 (CHF 35 reduced, children free) at its staffed ticket offices.

The prices apply to passes for travel between December 14, 2025 and December 12, 2026. The prices for the next season were not published by Jungfrau Railways when we checked in October 2026; one reseller already lists CHF 220 for three days, so expect a small increase.

The Jungfraujoch with the pass

With the Jungfrau Travel Pass you ride free to Eigergletscher and then buy the connecting ticket to the Jungfraujoch: CHF 89 from May 1 to October 31, 2026 including the mandatory seat reservation, and CHF 63 outside that period. Children under 16 with a pass get the connecting ticket free. That makes the pass the cheapest way up for a stay of several days.

Jungfraujoch return, adult, summer 2026 Price
Single ticket from Interlaken Ost, with seat reservation CHF 271.20
Single ticket from Grindelwald Terminal, with seat reservation CHF 249.20
With a Swiss Travel Pass (Swiss Activities price) CHF 188.80
With a Half Fare Card from Interlaken Ost (our calculation) about CHF 140.60
With a Jungfrau Travel Pass: connecting ticket from Eigergletscher CHF 89.00

The single prices and the Swiss Travel Pass price are from Swiss Activities in October 2026, the connecting ticket from Jungfrau Railways. For the Half Fare Card we halved the fare and added the CHF 10 reservation in full, because reservations are not reduced; from Grindelwald Terminal Swiss Activities shows exactly that logic with CHF 129.60. The reservation is required from May 1 to October 31, 2026, with every ticket. We have not been up ourselves; on our Schilthorn day on July 9, 2026 we saw the Jungfraujoch from across the valley, and the clouds that came and went around the Eiger and Mönch are a good reason to keep your Jungfraujoch day flexible within the pass days.

Three days calculated

For three days based in Interlaken with the Jungfraujoch, Grindelwald First and a boat day on Lake Brienz, the 3-day Jungfrau Travel Pass costs CHF 299 in total. That is CHF 78.40 less than the Half Fare Card and CHF 146.80 less than single tickets.

Day Single tickets, CHF Half Fare Card, CHF Swiss Travel Pass, CHF Bernese Oberland Pass, CHF Jungfrau Travel Pass, CHF
1: Jungfraujoch from Interlaken Ost 271.20 140.60 185.20 about 189.40 89.00
2: Train to Grindelwald and back (23.60), First gondola (76) 99.60 49.80 38.00 38.00 0
3: Lake Brienz boat day pass 75.00 37.00 0 0 0
Pass or card, 3 days 0 150.00 254.00 240.00 210.00
Total per adult 445.80 377.40 477.20 about 467.40 299.00 (≈ US$362)

Sources and assumptions: the train fare Interlaken Ost to Grindelwald is the SBB full fare for October 2026, the First gondola return CHF 76 (CHF 38 with a discount card), the Lake Brienz boat day pass CHF 75 (CHF 37 with the Half Fare Card) from our own guide to Lake Brienz. For the Bernese Oberland Pass we assumed 25 percent off the Jungfraujoch fare from Grindelwald plus the reservation, as the pass operator only publishes “special price”; it gives half price on First.

What the table does not count makes the Jungfrau Travel Pass even better: a sunset trip to Harder Kulm, Schynige Platte, the Männlichen ridge walk or the ride up to Mürren via Grütschalp are all free with it. And on a cloudy day you simply move the Jungfraujoch to the next pass day.

Jungfrau Travel Pass, Bernese Oberland Pass or Swiss Travel Pass?

Take the Jungfrau Travel Pass for a stay focused on Grindelwald, Wengen and the Jungfraujoch, the Bernese Oberland Pass for a week that includes the Schilthorn, the Brienzer Rothorn and the Niesen, and the Swiss Travel Pass only if you also cross Switzerland by train. The Jungfrau pass is the cheapest per day: 6 days cost CHF 290, against CHF 350 for the Bernese Oberland Pass and CHF 399 for the Swiss Travel Pass.

The Bernese Oberland Pass details, including the fact that it no longer covers the Oeschinensee since 2026, are in our Bernese Oberland Pass guide; the Swiss Travel Pass with four calculated trips in is the Swiss Travel Pass worth it. Our short version: if the Jungfraujoch is on your list, the Jungfrau Travel Pass is hard to beat; if the Schilthorn is your main summit, it is the wrong pass. And if you tour the whole country, the Swiss Travel Pass has the same price everywhere, but Klook showed extra discount codes in October 2026.

Why it would not have worked for our week

For our own week from July 4 to 11, 2026, based in Brienz and travelling by car, the Jungfrau Travel Pass would have covered none of our six tickets. Our trips went to the Rosenlaui Glacier Gorge, the Trümmelbach Falls, the Oeschinensee, the Rothorn from Sörenberg, the Schilthorn and the Aare Gorge, all outside the pass.

That is not a criticism of the pass but a useful lesson about it: it is a ticket for the Grindelwald and Jungfraujoch side of the region, not for the whole Bernese Oberland. We spent our Lauterbrunnen day at the waterfalls and our Schilthorn day on the other side of the valley, so for a trip like ours by car the single tickets at CHF 257 were the cheapest choice, and without a car the Bernese Oberland Pass would have saved CHF 140.40. If we came back to do the Jungfraujoch, First and the Männlichen walk, we would buy the 3-day Jungfrau Travel Pass for those days.

View from the edge of Mürren down into the Lauterbrunnen Valley with glaciers at its head
At the edge of Mürren at 18:40 on July 9, 2026. We came up with the Schilthorn cable car from Stechelberg, which the Jungfrau Travel Pass does not cover; the route via Grütschalp on the other side of the village is included.

If you already have a Swiss Travel Pass or Half Fare Card

If you already hold a Swiss Travel Pass or a Half Fare Card for a longer trip, the reduced Jungfrau Travel Pass (from CHF 165) only pays off if you add more mountain rides than the three days above. For our three-day plan it would not.

  • With a Swiss Travel Pass: the same three days cost you CHF 226.80 extra with the pass alone (Jungfraujoch CHF 188.80, First CHF 38, boat free). The reduced Jungfrau pass plus connecting ticket costs CHF 254. Not worth it, unless you add Harder Kulm, Schynige Platte or Männlichen.
  • With a Half Fare Card: the three days cost CHF 227.40 in half-fare tickets, the reduced Jungfrau pass plus connecting ticket CHF 254. Again only worth it with extra rides.
  • With a Flex pass: you only get the reduced price on an activated Flex day; see our guide Swiss Travel Pass Flex or consecutive.

Summer and winter

The Jungfrau Travel Pass is one product for the whole season from December 14, 2025 to December 12, 2026; Swiss Activities sells it as a summer pass (April to November) and a winter pass, both from CHF 210. What changes over the year is what runs.

  • Grindelwald First: runs all year except the maintenance break from October 26 to November 27, 2026.
  • Harder Kulm: April 3 to November 29, 2026.
  • Lake Brienz boats: April 3 to December 6, 2026; the Lake Thun boats run all year.
  • Schynige Platte: summer only; check the dates on jungfrau.ch.
  • Winter: no ski pass is included. According to Jungfrau Railways you may use the pass for sledding and winter hiking within its area, which makes it interesting for non-skiers. Our guide to sledding around Grindelwald lists the runs.

Outside the reservation period, from November 2026 until the end of April, the connecting ticket costs CHF 63; a seat reservation, if you want one, costs CHF 10 extra.

How to buy and use it

You buy the Jungfrau Travel Pass online for a fixed start date and receive a QR code on your phone; no further tickets are needed. The days must be consecutive, and the pass is personal.

  1. Buy online from Jungfrau Railways or from Swiss Activities (mobile ticket, free cancellation up to 24 hours before, from CHF 210 in October 2026).
  2. Add the reduced price only if you will carry a Half Fare Card, Swiss Travel Pass or activated Flex pass on every pass day.
  3. Book the Jungfraujoch connecting ticket for your best-weather day; from May to October it includes the seat reservation and a train time.
  4. Dogs: according to Swiss Activities, dogs need a paid ticket on the BLS boats and on the section Eigergletscher to Jungfraujoch.

If you arrive by train from Zurich, the pass does not cover the trip to Interlaken; our guide from Zurich Airport to Interlaken shows the options.

Our verdict

Buy the Jungfrau Travel Pass if you stay three days or more around Interlaken, Grindelwald, Wengen or Lauterbrunnen and want the Jungfraujoch; it is the cheapest way up and makes First, Harder, Männlichen and Schynige Platte free on top. Skip it if the Schilthorn or the Rothorn are your main summits, if you skip the Jungfraujoch, or if you have only one day.

  1. Jungfraujoch plus two more mountain days? The 3-day Jungfrau Travel Pass.
  2. A week including the Schilthorn and the Rothorn? The Bernese Oberland Pass.
  3. Just the Jungfraujoch on a day trip? Single ticket, ideally with a Half Fare Card.
  4. Touring all of Switzerland? Calculate the Half Fare Card or the Swiss Travel Pass and buy the Jungfraujoch with its discount.
